A Home Inspector's Guide: What To Look For And How To Read A Home Inspection Report

Buying a home can be an overwhelming and complicated process, but understanding your inspection report doesn't have to be. Here's the inside scoop on how we build ours and how to actually use it.

Reports are organized by system: roof, exterior, structure, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, interior, and any add-ons like pool or sewer scope. Each section gets a condition summary plus photos tied directly to the finding, so you're never guessing what's being described.

Look for the severity language first: safety concern, material defect, or maintenance recommendation. That hierarchy tells you what needs attention now versus what can go on a long-term list.

When in doubt, call your inspector. A five-minute conversation clears up more confusion than an hour of re-reading the same paragraph, and we'd rather field the question than have you guess.
